:: B-Team Claim First League Win (07/07/06)
Carrickcruppen 0-12; Mullaghbawn 2-5
On a night that saw the B-team turn up managerless, kitless, and without even a ball, the young gaels of Carrickcruppen showed what gaelic football is all about to defy all the odds and claim their first league win of the year. Having rounded up a team of only the most dedicated club men, the cruppen lads then borrowed a kit, scribbled down a team sheet, robbed the U14's soft size 5 Oneills, then headed off to face the mighty men of Mullaghbawn. So much for big Joe's physcologists, nutritionists and five star preparation. This was gaelic football at it's most basic. No pressure, no egos, just 15 lads playing their hearts out for the colour of the jersey on their backs!!! AND BOY DID THEY PLAY!!!
Right from the off Carrickcruppen dominated the game. Mid-field won almost every kickout throughout and overan the Mullaghbawn defence with their tireless work rate and crisp one-two passing manouvers. The scoresheet speaks volumes when you note that the Carrickcruppen midfield in fact scored eight of the teams overall twelve points. In Defence, Carrickcruppen were held rock solid by the ever reliable Nial 'Fast Eddie' Cowan, Michael 'Squeak' Finnegan, and Michael 'me stairs, me landing' Kane. Barry Flynn played with class, and Shane Collins capped off a great play making performance with some great interceptions and measured passing. In the forwards, Kevin Kane was running amoc before limping off with what is possibly a very serious injury. Hopefully it doesn't turn out too bad Kevy and we'll have those trusty left footed services back in the team soon. Young Squeak Junior also showed flashes of brilliance to take some great scores, as did super-sub Jemmy 'Casanova' Hughes and Barry 'Ginger Bob' Mooney.
Overall, everyone of the Carrickcruppen lads gave their all and must be congratulated for a great show of heart, pride, commitment to their club and deep-seeded love for the game.
P.s a special mention must go out to the team's stand-in manager, Peter 'Lombardo' Loughran. Could Cruppen's star full forward be showing early signs of his management potential?
P.p.s Has anyone seen Tyson? Rumour has it Mullaghbawn put a Tyson Look-a-like in the Cruppen Goals and he ended up their top scorer. If anyone has information on the whereabouts of the real cruppen clubber, please contact the club on 028 30830170. A hefty reward has been offered by the Dolce Vita for his safe return, they fear bankrupcy if their star customer is not located soon.
:: Senior League (05/07/06)
Carrickcruppen 2-07; St. Peters 0-05
Carrickcruppen seniors survived a sloppy first half performance tonight to overcome a well drilled yet poor finishing St. Peters side. Playing in stifling heat, the Cruppen boys were not themselves in the first half, playing with little shape and poor workrate. But for an opportunist Seamus Kane goal and some very wayward St. Peters shooting Carrickcruppen would have went into the break well behind. Instead, the scoreline read 1-2 to 0-3.
In the second half, the camlough side finally found their feet and increased work rate accompanied with the deployment of early balls saw them take control. The game was finally killed off will a well worked Michael Kane goal, the same player having run a whole 60yds in pursuit of the ball before tucking it neatly beneath the Keeper. Overall, Cruppen will be happy with the two points. To win a game so comfortably and never leave second gear must surely bode well for the potential that awaits tougher matches in the future. In Goals, Stephen havern was his usual dominant self. Tippy Ferris and Darren O'Grady worked tirelessly in Defence. While Barry Loughran and the rock solid Martin Ferris tormented the st. Peters side with their foreging runs and deadly passing. Cruppen's middle held it's own whilst Peter Loughran, Declan Campbell and Tony Bennett all shone upfront. A special mention must also go out to substitutes Noel Finnegan and Michael Kane who played brilliantly when introduced.

:: Senior League (23/06/06)
Carrickcruppen 0-10; Clan Eireann 1-06
Carrickcruppen seniors had a fantastic win tonight as they overcame a high flying Clan Eireann side. Carrickcruppen started in breathtaking fashion with the first 20 minutes of play as good as any seen all year. The low ball played fast into the Loughran brothers (Peter and Stephen) saw cruppen race into an early 6 point lead. But for a few wayward passes Cruppen would
have held this lead untill the break but went in with the score 0-6 to 0-2. In the second half, Cruppen seemed to abandon their earlier successful style of play with many players over carrying the ball. Subsequently Clan Eireann were able to rally and eventually took the lead with the help of a goal and some well executed point taking. The Camlough lads, however, refused to be beaten and fought bravely to edge out a one point win. A superb left footed free from play maker Martin ferris the catalyst in Cruppens victory.
Overall, a very entertaining game with the whole of the Cruppen squad giving their all in the name of the team. In goals Tyson was assured and accurate in his kicking. In Defence, Barry Loughran, James Hughes and Anthony Bennett worked tirelessly, while Martin Ferris was clearly the star of the show. John Mooney was efficient and hard working in the middle, whilst Peter Quinn played with passion when introduced. Up front, Peter Loughran was superb in his darting runs and was at the core of most of Cruppen's scores. Stephen Loughran also gave his all, while Mark Rice must surely have staked his claim for a regular starting position with some very creative play. Well done lads, much more like what we've come to expect from this extremely talented squad!!!

:: Cruppen fall to the Bridge (12/05/06)
Carrickcruppen 1-5; Silverbridge 0-09
Brief: A game of two halves. Cruppen were overun in the first half but rallied strongly in the second and were it not for some wayward shooting at the end, should have won the game.
:: Silverbridge prove just too strong for B-team (10/05/06)
Carrickcruppen B 1-9; Silverbridge B 3-12
The Cruppny minor contingent proved to be the stars of the show last night as Silverbridge defeated Carrickcruppen by 1-9 to 3-12, in what was an entertaining and hard fought game. Having failed to register a score against the Silverbridge team just two weeks previously, and lining out without a host of supposed senior starlets, Carrickcruppen were faced with a huge task and a heavy defeat was expected. :: Cruppen fine as Kane kicks nine! (07/05/06)
Carrickcruppen 0-10; Keady 0-07
The seniors collected another valuable two points when they overcame a very strong and determined Keady outfit at home today on a scoreline of 0-10 to 0-07. Highlight of the game was the impressive display by man of the match Seamus kane who accounted for all but one of our scores. His brother Kevin chipping in with the other point to make it a family affair.
Keady raced into a 3 point lead, but Cruppen slowly dragged themselves into contention and by half time had levelled the scores at 0-5 apiece. Keady again got their noses infront but that man Kane again kept popping over importartant frees and slowly Cruppen edged infront and finished strongly to win at the end by a three point margin.
Once again this was an all-round team performance, built on an impressive defensive display fron Stephen havern, Martin ferris and Big Barry Loughran. The midfield pairing of Damien Hamill and John Mooney won out on the day, while Seamus Kane shone throughout recieving good support from Peter and Stephen Loughran.
Next friday night we play host to Silverbridge in what is guaranteed to be a close affair.
:: B-Team suffer defeat to Mullaghbawn (02/05/06)
Carrickcruppen B 0-6; Mullaghbawn B 0-07
On the back of recent poor performances, Carrickcruppen came into this game as major underdogs but surprised many in the first half with their high work rate and speedy play to rush into a 4-2 half time lead. The second half however was to prove a far less glamorous affair as the cruppen men spent most of the second period camped in their own half of the field. All too often indecisive passing and poor tackling lead to easy Mullaghbawn scores, helping them to a final 0-7 to 0-6 victory.
Aside from the dissapointment of defeat, the carrickcruppen lads can take alot from todays performance. It was a definite improvemnt from recent games and was capped off by some excellent individual displays. In goals, Tyson McNally played with confidence and was blasting his kickouts out the field. At the back, Niall Cowan's commanding bursts of speed to win ball were the key to a 'man of the match' performance with Michael Smith snapping at his heels. In the middle, the two James's caught alot of ball with james Hughes inparticular showing his senior pedigree with some great movement and distribution. In the forwards, Fuzzy showed constantly while big Michael Finnegan was a constant threat when supplied with ball.
Hard luck lads, keep up the effort and a win is definitely on the cards in the near future.

:: Armagh ACL Div. 2 Round 4 (30/04/06)
Carrickcruppen 3-11; Ballymacnab 0-09
The seniors gained another two league points when they easily overcame newly promoted Ballymacnab on Sunday afternoon on a scoreline of 3-10 to 0-9. As a contest this game was over at half time with Cruppen leading 2-9 to 0-3, the goals coming courtesy of Seamus and Kevin Kane. After the restart, Cruppen took their collective foot of the pedal and, only for a number of fine saves from Stephen Havern, the result may have been closer. In the last ten minutes Gerard Morgan sealed the victory with the third and final goal. Once again the defense was superior as a unit with Martin Ferris, James Hughes and Gerard Morgan outstanding. Damien Hamill impressed at midfield, while up front the Kane brothers and Brendan Doran caught the eye. Next Sunday we entertain Keady at 2.00pm.

:: Cruppen legend passes away (28/03/06)
After a long battle with ill health, Carrickcruppen great Mr Paddy Lynch, passed away last night, Thurs 28th March. Paddy was regarded as one of few men with legendary status around the Carrickcruppen club and was a highly respected figure within the local community and throughout GAA circles in general.
In footballing terms, Paddy was of a pedigree matched by only a few others around the Carrickcruppen club. In 1959 he was a key member of Cruppen's first ever Armagh senior championship winning side and he then managed the club to a further championship title with the great 1982 team.
On behalf of the whole Carrickcruppen club, Carrickcruppengfc.com would like to offer our deepest sympathy and condolences to the Lynch family on the loss of a true great. Rest in Peace Paddy, you will be greatly missed.

:: SENIOR PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY (26/03/06)
Carrickcruppen Vs. BallyMartin
Carrickcruppen senior team ran out four point winners today to a battling Down division 2 Ballymartin side. A full match report is, as of yet, unavailable but general reports suggest that Carrickcruppen started strongly and had taken a comfortable lead by the end of the first half. However, as the Cruppen lads began to tire in the second period, Ballymartin did recover and Cruppney did well to hang on and win with a four point cushion.
Impressive for Carrickcruppen today were James Hughes, Anthony Bennett, Gerard Morgan and Brendan Doran. John Mooney and Barry Loughran were also commanding in the middle of the park with Mooney especially giving his all and covering countless miles in support of his team.
Another encouraging performance and a good lead-up into next sunday's league opener.

Carrickcruppen Vs. Saval
Carrickcruppen senior team faced Down side Saval today in the third and most promising pre-season friendly of their 2006 campaign. Earlier 'experimental' matches against Na Pairsaigh and Annaghmore allowed Carrickcruppen to field a stronger, more settled side in the saval encounter and the benefits were obvious as the Cruppen boys played with class and tenacity to earn a draw with the former division 1 side.Full Story...
